Blending together leasure and love for sailing, the group of adventurous travelers from age 3 to 70 wanted to discover new destinations and they indeed fell in love with the hidden paradise of Ile-a-Vache among their points of interest. Under the lenses of some talented journalists from Le Nouvelliste, Ticket Magazine, Magik 9, Tele Metropole of Les Cayes, and videographer Patrick Dorsainvil, who came specifically to cover this unique event, some of them visited the capital Madame Bernard to drop off some donations to an orphanage managed by the devoted Sister Flora, while others had a good time in Kaykok village where they met with lovely residents who welcomed them with troubadour music, food, local beers, produces, handicrafts, and best of all the beauty and lush vegetation of their sunny isle.
Obviously at Port-Morgan there was a festive ambiance. Early in the morning, some of Port-Morgan guests were delighted to count every boat approaching the island. Imagine yourself picturing this moment while having a home-style egg and cheese breakfast along with fruits salad, organic juices, the rich and flavourful aroma of local quality coffee and other traditional treats baked on site in a friendly and peaceful environment.

In the middle of the day, everybody was talking about the event while enjoying the spectacular panorama offered by these 32 to 53-foot long cataramans at anchor in Port-Morgan bay. Some of them cost up to U$750,000 according to Sainte Corinne one of the Transcaraibe's cruise-rally participants. Together with some other sailors she toured the ecological complex of Port-Morgan guided by Didier Boulard, then enjoyed at night the home-style buffet prepared by the hotel's talented chefs. They felt very comfortable and very pleased to visit Ile-a-Vache, most of them for the first time. As a result, the group of sailors expect to come back next year to renew their traveling experience.
As far as Kaykok welcoming crew members, inhabitants, vendors, and bystanders, they were very excited and did their best to assume their own responsibility while following their motto "Kaykok Pwop" meaning (Clean village). For a first try they were thrilled, even though they wanted to share more of their sense of hospitality and at the same time portray a positive image of their village. The organizers on their side raised their thumb up because their most important goal was to delight all visitors, so this memorable journey could linger on their mind and more foreigners will be willing to come. The Transcaraibes rallie continued their long trip to Jamaica and ended up with Cuba at the end of April 2009.

For the first time ever Haiti had welcomed a series of 18 boat races near Kaykok village and Port-Morgan bay in Ile-a-vache, which turned this gorgeous island into a beautiful postcard under a brilliant sunny sky. The Transcaraibes rally departed from Martinique on April 4, visited many caribbean islands before stopping at Port-Morgan bay on early April 20.

It was very exciting to witness such a wonderful event on a small island in Haiti that gathered a crowd of neighboring residents and boosted up several activities in Kaykok village. Didier Boulard, manager of Port-morgan Hotel, didn't hide as well his excitement and happiness as he devoted his time and determination to see not only the Transcaraibes rally arriving just across his resort, but also a positive image of Haiti re-emerging on the international traveler's map.
